Things I’m Loving This Week Aug 30 – Sept 5

Coming to you from our beautiful cottage in the Lake District this week, and although it goes from bright sun to pouring with rain one hour to the next, as always it’s so good to be here. This last week has mainly been preparing and packing for this week away, so here’s things I’m loving this week.

Banyan cocktails

For the first time last Sunday I had cocktails in Banyan, and was pleasantly surprised by it. I’d only been in once before right when it opened and it’s definitely improved since then. We obviously got one of the cocktail trees mainly because it was better value than buying them individually.

Picking up Arthur from his night away with Kieran’s mum was a highlight of my week, as it was the first night we’ve had without him since February. I hated waking up without him there but she looked after him while we were out for bank holiday rather than us leaving him in the house. Nothing like hungover pug cuddles, and it was nice to sit on the caravan terrace in the sun for a couple of hours.

I met one of my old work friends for lunch this week, always good to see her and catch up on life. You can’t beat Sambucas either.

The 1st September made me really happy, I love this time of year and all that autumn brings, as well as it being a time for change, so I put together this post on things to do in September. I feel like this summer was ruined for all of us but autumn and winter don’t need to be. It’s a time to fully embrace being warm and cosy at home and I’m here for it.

Our fancy dress costumes arrived mid week and it was bloody hilarious trying them on. We are going to a 1st birthday party next week and it’s Classic Disney themed. Honestly can’t wait to see people dressed up.

I shared another post from my press trip to Glasgow this week, this time on the street art and mural trail that we went on. I thoroughly enjoyed it and looking back over the photos I took. I’ve got one post left to share on Glasgow but it’s not likely to be done until mid September due to my holiday.

Glasgow street art

By Thursday I was rushing around doing food shops, last minute trips to town and packing up all our stuff for out week away. For once I had the time to be so organised and I even used my own packing guide for a UK break to help me. I’ve even been researching which lakes have been found to have blue algae in that’s dangerous to dogs. I heard a horror story about someone’s dog and it really freaked me out but I’m now fully prepared. No swimming in Ulswater for Arthur!

Every night we’ve been binge watching episodes of The Fall, and although it terrifies me I’m enjoying watching it again on Netflix. It has really creeped me out though and I’m becoming slightly obsessed with making sure blinds are down and doors are locked haha.

My order from Our Lovely Goods came on Friday morning just before we set off for the Lakes and it’s yet another gorgeous scent from them. I discovered them when they were shared as a black owned business on Instagram and their candles are just amazing. They restocked some new ones for autumn and winter this week and I snapped one up. Have a look they’re honestly beautiful. I’ve brought it away with me.

Arriving at our place in the Lakes on Friday was just amazing. Neither of us could believe how gorgeous it is and sitting on our balcony and terrace with a bottle of wine felt like a moment I’ve been waiting for all year.

We used the pool and spa facilities yesterday which you get for exclusive use, and had our first bar meal at the pub last night. I’ve never had so many people message or text for the details before, except for the place we stayed at in Palma last year, so I shared details on my Instagram post last night.

And that’s how I’ll be spending the coming week. However you spend yours hope you have a good one.
