I shared this way too late last year everything was sold out so taking my cue from a spike in views on this blog post over the weekend and sharing it early.

If you’d told me as a kid when we used to go with my nana and grandad for lava lamps, tamagotchis and neon nail polish it would be what it is today I wouldn’t have believed you.

Lunchtimes especially are an absolute vibe, so much choice but I went for one of the seafood takeaway platters that @geordie.scran has been sharing recently and it was only £6! I sat at the bar for it and watched all the characters 🦐🦪

IMO - the best North East Sunday lunches! 🤎

I also enjoy Middleton Lodge in North Yorkshire and the Drunken Duck in the Lakes. Feel like I have to mention Wylam Brewery and Blackfriars as they are always highly spoken of but I’ve not been personally so can’t say.

Whenever I share these I get people telling me where I’ve missed or businesses commenting theirs - I haven’t these are just my picks from my experiences 😊

My dad says Sunday lunches are all the same. I will die on the hill that they aren’t. Crispy but fluffy potatoes, well cooked veg, perfect meat, gravy done properly with no skin on 🤢 proper mash, home made Yorkshires 🤤

ad| @newcastle.cavavin were previously just a wine shop but they’ve recently expanded into a wine bar that also offers wine tastings. I went last night and tried a selection of French wines - I bought my favourite red of the ones we tried but I loved the rosé too, wish I’d tried it at the start of summer!

The guys know their stuff and can take you through all the details, so if you like to try your wine before you buy then you can choose 3 or 5 as part of their daily wine tasting sessions at 5pm. Bar snacks also on offer to go with it - cheese, nuts, olives, crisps etc 🫒

For a 3 glass wine flight (90ml per glass) it’s £10pp or 5 glasses for £15

📍 They’re in one of the railway arches on Westgate Road, and dog friendly too 🐾

Nothing like the sounds of corks popping at 5pm on a Friday night (ok fine 4pm…ish)🍷

ad| The @millhousebirtley is back under new management, and I went for Sunday lunch at the weekend. Sirloin beef with loads of gravy, yorkshires, veg, roasties and that absolutely wild entire cauliflower cheese. You can order whole or half depending how many of you there are.

It was lush, with a big choice of meats including two beef and a trio option, sides, starters and desserts. I had tomato and chickpea soup which I really enjoyed, and although the brownie and the sundae looked amazing I was just too full, portions are bigggg.

It’s changed hands a few times but Ive known the new owner for years and he’s really keen to make sure people love it. Judging by how busy it was and the atmosphere people seemed to be, families, pups - dog friendly in the bar and the staff were great.

An ideal Sunday spot for a cosy roast and glass of red🍷

The Falls Spa 🧖‍♀️

My first time experiencing @thefallsspa last week for a Twilight session with our Viv. We watched the sun set over the mountains and the lake from the pool with a prosecco 🥂

If you’re looking for a little midweek Lakes luxury, for £65 per person, you get 2 hours of full access to the spa facilities and relaxation areas, including a glass of prosecco in the Champagne Bar. You can keep ordering drinks from the bar throughout your visit, and there is a package available with dinner in the restaurant after as well.

The pool is heated like a hot tub, and there are steam rooms and saunas so perfect for an Autumn spa sesh 🪵🔥 the view as well 🤩⛰️

Available every day from 6-8pm, but there are some days over October and November where they are due to be closed check before booking.

📍 Yonder Keswick

🌻 A fab little cafe on Keswick Main street, they’ve been open just over a year and I went while over in the Lakes last week.

☕️ They do coffees, smoothies, an amazing selection of cakes and cakes I had an absolute wedge of carrot cake, and lunch dishes. There is a couple of tables inside as well as high bench seating looking out at the street, and a ome cute little outside tables if you’re lucky and get a sunny day ☀️

🐾 Dog friendly too

It opens earlier than other places and shops so was bustling but we didn’t have to wait for a seat. A bit different to the usual Lakeland tearooms would definitely recommend a visit if you’re over there.

☕️ Drink coffee until you can drink cocktails
✂️ The bare minimum isn’t effort - relationships, friendships, whoever - if they’re not cutting it just cut them off snip snip

You see how we now listen to our intuition? very boundaries, very idgaf. very virgo ♍️
