How to Create the Perfect Hotel-Inspired Bedroom at Home

Part of the joy of staying in a high-end hotel is the sense that you’re being looked after throughout your stay. You’ll get little luxurious touches and a sense that everything is being continually refreshed.

But what if it were possible to replicate a little bit of this experience in your bedroom at home? With a few simple tweak its possible to recreate that feeling and luxuriousness, and it doesn’t have to be as expensive as you think.

Start With a Calming, Boutique-Hotel Colour

It all starts from the right base shade. Most hotels will opt for a crowd-pleasing neutral shade, against which other details can be used to add visual interest. Earthy beiges and magnolias tend to promote a sense of calm, and they’re an excellent complement to the ‘slow living’ ethos that continues to dominate the world of interior design in 2026.

Make the Bed the Focal Point

The bed should always be the focal point of a hotel room. You can make your bed the star of the show by positioning it somewhere central, and by adding multiple layers of sheets, cushions and throws. Experiment with a variety of styles, and use scatter cushions to add a pop of extra colour. Your choice of luxury materials is just as important and will make a big difference to both the look of the bed, and the experience of sleeping.

Each morning, be sure to make the bed; it only takes 5 minutes and can set you up for the day. You’ll also need to regularly wash your sheets and occasionally replace them, to create that all-important hotel look.

Add Luxurious Finishing Touches for That Five-Star Feel

If you want the feel of a five-star hotel, then you’ll need to go beyond what’s ordinary. The room, ideally, should feel like an experience, rather than just a functional part of the house. The right statement artworks, rugs, and curtains can help to complete the space. Don’t be afraid to experiment with colour, patterns and styles. It’s still important to let your personality shine through as it is your space afterall.

Layer Lighting for Both Atmosphere and Practicality

Hotel rooms are rarely lit from a single overhead source, as it can easily make the space feel dingy and cramped. Instead, you’ll want to combine ambient lighting from many different sources, as well as accents around key areas. Your bedside table is especially important. A good reading lamp here will allow you to turn off those harsh overhead bulbs when you’re just settling in for the night.
