3 years ago today I was ghosted after an 8 year relationship.

There’s a whole trend now of people sharing these journeys but thank god I didn’t do that 😂 however here’s what I’ve learned:

ghosting is emotional abuse. that’s a fact.

regardless, you’ll get over them WAY faster than you’ll get over the fact the emotional mental trauma. that’s the hard bit but you will get through it 💪🏼

don’t share it all over social media while you’re living through it. wait until you don’t give a shit, no longer hurt from it and can openly talk about it unbothered 💁🏻‍♀️

you’ll realise how traumatic something was when you’re rattling it off as a random story that once happened to you and the whole table goes silent and are staring at you like W.T.F. hopefully for you it’s while you’re sat drinking cava on a balcony 🥂

take screenshots when you get the apology. because you will. the world isn’t designed to believe women over anything without proof. so you slap those receipts down if/when you need to 🧾

heal out loud so you don’t suffer in silence. talk it through, your friends will show up for you to keep your sanity. there’s probably only one person hiding and running and ultimately ashamed of their actions and it won’t be you.

there’s nobody more outraged or avoidant than a narcissist being confronted of something they definitely did

you can’t heal people from trauma you didn’t cause and nor should you try. people who behave like this had issues long before you.

you will be fine. go everywhere you couldn’t before, book the trips, plan the city breaks, go on the road trips. Go to events, eat solo, upgrade the hotel room, buy the drone, go to Wembley and most importantly stop carrying the dead weight.

pour yourself into what you love. sunrise walks, football matches, being outside, time with friends, your hobbies. I was told I could only do my blog and insta because I had someone to go with and I just remember thinking do you want to fucking bet?!

maybe the happy ending is your own pure happiness with your own little life and the things and people in it. that’s where we are at now x

The Ouseburn Market - and next dates 🛍️

This was the most colourful creative market i’ve ever been to, I went on Saturday for the first time ever and there are SO many good stalls. It’s definitely different to the likes of the Quayside and Tynemouth I’d really recommend a visit next time if you haven’t been 🎨

There were a lot of stalls, over 60 and ones I’d never seen before:

🐾 dog friendly and lots of water bowls out for them
🤝🏼 a big sense of community
🎨 some amazing art stalls take a look at @allthingsbloom_art @lucyintheskyart @lizzierobbdesign
🍫 @secrettaart selling her fabulous luxury chocolate
🪴 plant, homeware and candle stalls
🍕 pizza vans, ice cream carts @the_jesmond_ice_cream_company
🎟️ free entry
📍 opposite the arches on Stepney Bank

🗓️ next dates are 10-11th May, 14-15th June, 5-6th July add them to your calendar as it’s really worth a visit

Solo girls club has not stopped I’ve just not been able to do it justice the past month + as I’ve been away so much, and my trips haven’t been solo which is always lovely.

Dubai style chocolate Easter egg ✨

Patricia from @secrettaart has made and perfected her version of this viral style of chocolate, with the pistachio cream and knafeh filling, she has chocolate bars but also these showstopping Easter eggs! 🤩

I went to see her at @theouseburnmarket yesterday and she very kindly gifted me one and explained how she makes it, in her home here in the North East. She specialises in luxury chocolate and these Easter eggs are all hand made and decorated.

They’re £35.99 which isn’t cheap, and is due to the cost of the ingredients and the quality and time needed to create each bespoke one individually. There’s two layers of Belgian chocolate inside with the pistachio knafeh filling between them. Delicious!

SecretTaart will be at both the Ouseburn Market and the Quayside market today with limited eggs, but you can order them online ahead of Easter weekend ✨

The Cherry Blossom is in bloom at Alnwick Garden 🌸

@alnwickgarden shared yesterday the 300+ Taihaku Cherry Blossom trees are now blooming so over the next two weeks is the time to go and see them at they’re best.

🎟️ your ticket gets you access to the whole gardens and the Cherry Blossom orchard is part of it.

Dinner at Jesmond Dene House!

ad| @jesmonddenehouse have recently appointed a new Executive Head chef to give a refresh to their menu and dining experience, and I went with my friend Rachael last night to experience it.

It had been a good while since I’ve ate here, but I do remember it and the menu was noticeably different. It’s actually different from a lot of menus and I’ll tell you the punchline first - we both came away saying what a great meal and evening we had - being food content is the best feeling.

To start I had the glazed pig cheek, baked potato, wild garlic and onion ketchup - I really enjoyed this could have easily had it as a main the sauce on the meat and potato 👌🏼 Rachael had the mussels with poached leeks and smoked butter she was also impressed especially as the mussels came de-shelled and soaked in the sauce.

Other starters to choose from summarised as they all had a lot of ingredients and flavours include stream trout, mushroom veloute, duck leg croquette and a broccoli, hazelnut and artichoke vegetarian option.

For mains I had the flat iron steak from the grill which comes with bone marrow sauce, fried potato, truffle, and house salad. Rachael had the grilled day boat fish, seaweed butter, heritage potatoes and house salad. It was all delicious, and the portions were a very good size. Again there was a lot to choose from the spring menu included fish, lamb, duck, steaks and mushroom risotto.

If you enjoy a good dining meal like this take a look at the menu as there’s a lot of choice with much more detail than I’ve described. It’s a lovely environment too we left very relaxed and content.

We finished by sharing the honey cake with honeycomb ice cream - 10/10 and the coconut creme caramel with passionfruit and mango.

A really lovely meal and evening the new chefs done a great job and it’s made me really want to go back soon for a spring sunday lunch 🌼

Tynemouth newest cafe opened this week ☕️

They are serving up cakes and coffee, sarnies, scones and toasties, and I’m sure I saw a wine list too… I had an iced vanilla latte (obviously) and cherry scone both were good. I don’t say that lightly about iced lattes either. I have to say the toasties looked unreal, proper chunky bread.

Sadly I couldn’t sit in for one as it was busy, although there were some tables upstairs and they are dog friendly, they’re actually only dog friendly downstairs and outside which were all taken.

Staff were lovely it’s family run, so pop in if you can, I’m sure it’s going to be popular especially as we are coming up to summer. The village is already packed at weekends ☕️ 🍰

The classics for every year:

Durham - go for a walk along the river, see the blossom by the cathedral, the market is on Saturdays and head to Flat White for coffee. There’s a dog friendly one round the corner from the main cafe ☕️

Alnwick: the obvious one for the cherry blossom trail at Alnwick Gardens. The town itself is cute too and visit The Tempus nearby their tipi just reopened

Warkworth: you can’t miss the daffodils on Warkworth Castle, followed by a walk along the river. Then head to Bertrams the food is lovely, they’re dog friendly and there’s parking nearby

Raby Castle: enjoy The Rising new development, their shop is the only Northern stockist of the Bamford range, enjoy a walk with the castle view in the walled garden followed by lunch in The Vinery

Good morning from sunny Lisbon! ☀️

it’s been awhile since I extended a work trip, but Lisbon is somewhere I’ve always wanted to go so I took the opportunity this weekend after spending the week in the Algarve.

We were going to get the train up but then a colleague offered us a lift and we were a bit hungover on Friday so took him up on it, and it was a nice drive so would be easy to do for a few days if you’re hiring a car in Portugal anyway.

So far we’ve wandered around, dived into a lot of shops - skincare, perfumes, books and homeware shops are great here - drank wine, seen some sights and had very good food. It’s so colourful!

For once I’ve not planned a single thing! Thanks to @claratruyols I’m in good hands she has been the best and most relaxed planner 🇵🇹

Climb Greys Monument this summer!

🔝 The Greys Monument climbs are back from today and will be available every first and third Saturdays of the month. Tickets for April are already sold out they sell out so fast so you need to be quick. Although when I did it last year I got lucky with a walk up so you could try that.

🎟️Tickets are available on newcastlegateshead.com just google Greys Monument tours and it will come up. The May ones for 3rd and 17th will go on sale on Saturday 19th April at 9am.

You get a half hour slot between 10am and 3.30pm to climb the narrow 164 spiral steps to the top for pretty amazing views of the city.

🎟️ Tickets are £7 per person, no kids under 5. My best advice is look out not down! 🤩🖤🤍
