ROSE TINTED GLASSES - a must see exhibition in Newcastle tonight and tomorrow night! 🥀

Faye invited me to her show a few months ago and I’ve followed her since @fayegreenman - as she’s shared snippets of the exhibit story and each painting. They’re all gorgeous in their own right but I really wasn’t prepared for the full show and the story (therapy session) you go through when seeing them all on display in order like this

In Faye’s own words from last night, the 15 paintings all done over the past 18 months are

‘a woman’s story and a story of self love’ 🤍

Through the different chapters the paintings and descriptions have somehow managed to capture all the variations of love girls go through, from childhood innocence having ‘a cup of you and me’ with her grandad, to first teenage crush listening to songs in your bedroom, tunnel vision when things aren’t quite right, heartbreak, living your best wild single life, a don’t give a f*ck era and finding the perfect partner.

It’s scarily relatable and whatever stage or situation(ship) you’re at there’s something that will hit home either from the past or present.

The display is complemented by a centre table scape that also shows many different scenarios as you go round 💄📸

It’s the perfect solo date, girl date, or even take your significant other, but it’s only there tonight and tomorrow afternoon so be quick!

🇪🇸 @ohla_barcelona - I’d wanted to go to Barcelona forever and eventually got there in February thanks to a work trip I extended. Really quirky, incredible rooftop bar and great location.

🇪🇸 @nobishotelpalma - only opened within the last year and is just beautiful, a 5 star luxury hotel in one of the oldest buildings in Palma. No pool so a good one for early/end of summer when it’s not as hot. They treat you like royalty.

🇬🇷 @thesyntopia - the Crete hotel of dreams. Id had this place saved since 2019 and was always told ‘we’ll see’ - well I did see and it was fabulous

Just a tip I booked all of these direct as it got me the best rates. Dont let anyone hold you back - book the trip, enjoy the hotel💁🏻‍♀️

I don’t get this feeling as much working from home full time but I do think September feels way more like a fresh start than New Year does.

It’s also a great time to take holiday if you don’t have kids, can’t wait for my week off next week 🙌🏼 everything’s quieter but usually still have decent weather.

We’ll call it the ‘Sunday of Summer’

It took a few years but finally felt like my normal self again this summer 🥹 They say the happiest demographic are solo women in their 30s, 💯 I can see it.

There’s been best friend weddings, boujee holidays, work trips to Vegas, bucket list hotels, lots of firsts - Barcelona, Cornwall, the most shocking being an online PT sorry who am I?

But it’s all the bits in between that matter and how happy you are when you climb into bed at night and wake up first thing in the morning.

This time last year I booked a full spa day with lunch and treatment at @middletonlodge beautiful Forest Spa and felt like I was in another country.

Here’s why the first week of September is the time to go:

🌿 it was quiet with most people back to school/work
🌿 the weather was still so warm - despite what the seasonal aisles in every shop are telling you we’re forecast a lot of sun and warm temps for at least another week - enjoy the outdoor pool and loungers
🌿 al fresco lunch is the one

Wine by the pool after a massage and the sound of spa bubbles is the therapy we all need 🫧

ad| The guys who own two of my favourite Northumberland restaurants - the Potted Lobster in Bamburgh and the Whittling House in Alnmouth have now also taken over Bertram’s in Warkworth!

If you’ve been to either you’ll know you’re in for some top quality locally sourced food and @bertrams_warkworth is no different. Right in the town centre so easy to find, the evening menu has a really good selection to choose from.

For starter I went for the oxtail and haggis croquettes with Worcester cream and they were amazing, I’d go back for just those again. I struggled to choose from a few options the squid and the soup both sounded great too.

Main I had the sirloin beef with proper chips, cooked perfectly - only really picky slight thing missing was maybe a steak side sauce but it was delicious. Other choices were North Sea cod, crab crusted hake, buttered chicken or slow cooked blade of beef with truffle mash.

I was pretty full but had to have the raspberry ripple roll. All in all a 10/10 meal especially if you’re staying up there and can also make the most of the wine list.

Horticulture comes coastal! 🍹🌊

It’s been a long time coming but @horticulturecoastal opened their doors yesterday on the corner of Whitley Road. It’s got everything you know and love about @horticulturencl - brunch by day and cocktails by night.

The brunch menu is great there’s pancakes, ‘muckle’ full English, breakfast sarnies, loaded hash browns and shakshuka type dishes. I had the chorizo hash 👌🏼 and a smoothie followed by a Bloody Mary.

In the evening there’s music and cocktails including a good selection of their famous espresso martini menu and a cracking spicy marg 🌶️ 🍸

🐾 dog friendly
🚗 parking on Whitley Road but it’s limited and always chaos so if you can get the metro or walk

Pay a visit if you’re coming to the coast for the North Sea Big Weekender this weekend!

🏳️ VIP tables, booths, private spaces - you can now book tables on match days to secure a spot, walk ins also available
🏴 new match day drinks packages starting with bronze package at £100 for 10 bottles of lager, a bottle of wine and a bottle of prosecco, going up to the VIP package for £500
🏳️ open even earlier on match days from 11am

We ordered 6 small plates from the bar bites menu including beef sliders, steak bites, (Terry)mac n cheese and peppered prawns. And a portion of Jack Daniels chicken wings which will always be my favourite 🤤👌🏼

Ideal if there’s a group of you that want a guaranteed table, view of the tv, table service and a 2 minute walk to St James
