A Review Of The Florena Fermented Skincare Range
I’ve had a love hate relationship with my skin this summer. For the first half I was so happy with it and was loving the products I was using, but towards the end in recent weeks I had a reaction to washing powder that took aaaages to go, especially off my neck and face. For total transparency I was gifted the Florena products in this post mid summer, but I didn’t use them until more recently when I was trying anything and everything to get my skin back to normal.
Disclaimer: I was gifted the range of Florena products but all opinions are genuine and my own.
It’s only really been the last few years that I’ve put more emphasis on my skincare products that make up products. I know people always say start really young, and it’s so important, but I never really thought too much about it. That’s definitely changed as I’ve got older, despite not really having any skin issues. That was until this last 6 weeks so maybe that serves me right!
Just to be really clear as well I’m not at all saying these products have cured my skin. I had a real reaction to washing powder that resulted in me going to the doctor for prescribed treatment. So if you suffer with anything like that then always seek medical attention. I’m simply saying these are some of the products I’ve used since then and my thoughts on them.
So the reaction I had, the treatment I was given to clear it up, combined with still wearing masks in some places resulted in my skin being the driest it’s ever been. I’ve used so many different moisturisers and I’m currently using three different ones, depending on what it’s like on the day. I’ve got a heavy one, a normal one, and I’ve been using the Florena one as a lighter one.
Before I go any further here’s a bit about the Florena brand in general:
They’re the first ever skincare line devoted to fermented ingredients. What’s that now? Basically they’re a certified skincare range that uses fermented natural ingredients, so as well as being natural and surprisingly powerful, they’re sustainable, dermatologically approved and suitable for all skin types.
A misconception in the beauty/skincare can be that natural means less effective at achieving results, but the fermentation process used here is what gives it the extra kick.
Sounds pretty good to me, but what attracted me most to this brand is some of their wider ethics. Now I’m not perfect when it comes to looking after the planet, recycling and using sustainable goods in every aspect of my life, but I do try where I can – every little helps right? These guys definitely fit the bill here, take a look at their philosophy.
Like I said I’ve been using the anti ageing range for the last few weeks, and I’m not really one for being obsessed with anti ageing results, more so just happy to be using products suitable for my age. Let’s not shy away from the fact that it does change as we get older, we might as well treat it that way.
My favourite product is definitely the anti wrinkle day cream. It’s light, smooth and you can put your make up on fairly quickly afterwards. It does give you a fresher feel, and I like knowing the Hyaluronic Acid is present and at work, retaining water and preventing the dried out look I had been sporting.
The night cream is lovely too, but if I’m being honest I prefer a thicker cream at night when I can really let it soak into my skin over time, so I’ve been sticking to my old products at night. If you prefer a lighter version that doesn’t lather your pillows then this one is for you.
That said, both of these were great for me in Paris. The packaging is so lightweight it’s a great range for travel, and both were good options when you’re in and out of the bathroom getting ready for different things while you’re away and perhaps not taking as much time over your full routine.
Your skin can feel really tired with travel, and constantly taking day and night make up on and off, but these products really helped with that. I’d definitely use them both again for weekends away.
Add to it the Regenerating facial oil, which promises to help tired and dull skin to rehydrate and rejuvenate leaving it nourished, soft and supple. I would agree that it does deliver on it’s promise.
I don’t use facial oils every day, and I certainly didn’t when I was having problems but it’s something I’m starting to bring back into my routine again and I really like it. Again it’s not too heavy which is perfect for me at the moment.
The only product I’ve not yet tried is the face mask, as I’m saving it for when all my hectic weekends are over, and I’ll give myself a pamper with it. Who doesn’t love a self care night with an enriching face mask? So I’ve still got that to look forward to.
Florena may have gifted me these products to try, but it’s a range I’m definitely working into my routine depending on my skin at the time. They’re guilt free, natural products that leave your skin feeling refreshed and nourished.
