Things I’m Loving This Week 26th July – 1st August

I thought I’d struggle to find things from this week that I’m feeling positive about, but once I’ve got going there are more than I thought. It’s definitely true that you can make your own happiness and shouldn’t rely on anyone else, but having people there for you when you need it just make things that bit easier. So here’s what I’ve been loving from the past week.

Sushi

One of the things I really missed over the last few months was a random midweek meal out somewhere cheap and cheerful. When you cant be bothered to cook and just decide on a spur of the moment Sambucas, those are the Monday night’s I live for. We did just that on Monday and I had my go to penne carbonara, delicious as ever and an absolute bargain.

Last Sunday Kieran and I went up to town for the last game of the season, and although this football season has been ridiculously long, disjointed and a bit of an anticlimax, I didn’t realise until I was sat in the pub with a plate of chicken wings and a pint just how much I missed it. Obviously being a Newcastle fan is never straightforward and things took a sharp nosedive with the takeover (I called it in my 35 things that will happen in Newcastle after lockdown post), but that aside I just miss match day as we used to know it.

On Wednesday I met up with some friends from Amble for a walk along the quayside, and got a cuddle with Aurora on the bridge which was the cutest thing ever. Getting out the house and meeting up with people for a catch up and some fresh air while everyone is at work did me the world of good and I love them for meeting up with me. They also helped me write one of my blogs this week – Things to do in Amble and Warkworth, which I’m very grateful for.

Coble Quay Amble

Planning ahead a bit, but ten of us booked to go glamping in September for mine and one of the lads birthdays. It all happened very quick but we found some very reasonable glamping pods that were available for all of us one weekend in September, and just got it booked. I’m so excited!

On Friday the fabulous heat and sunshine all day meant I could top up my summer tan nicely, and I went round to my parents garden to lie on the lounger all day. It felt like a self care day, took my mind off a lot of things and was nice to be back in the sun. I am really missing a summer holiday.

I finally got tickets to see Sam Fender at the new outdoor socially distanced arena at Newcastle racecourse. It’s in two weeks time so I booked a viewing platform for two as soon as tickets went on sale. I’ve no idea what it will be like but it’s something different and I cant wait to see him live.

It’s no secret how much I love seafood, and Kieran and I have been having prawn linguine quite regularly but just with Asdas own prawns. On Thursday I went to the fish quay and got some proper King Prawn’s from Phils’s Plaice, and they made such a difference. They’re huge and taste so good. I was at my parents for dinner yesterday and Nige had been to Phil’s Plaice for some lobster as well, which we covered in garlic butter and they were a-mazing. You cant beat proper fresh straight off the boat fish and seafood.

Lobster and lemon

On Friday night Kieran and I went to the pub for dinner and some drinks with my parents too, so it’s been nice to spend a bit more time with them. We just went to the Pavilion which are set up really well with table reservations, a one way system and the app to order everything from. It’s great – a few clicks and your order is in and on it’s way to you without having to queue at the bar.

I’ve ordered a new backpack and a matching packing cube this week, I cant wait for it to arrive as it’s had a lot of good reviews in the travel blogging community, and I needed a good, trustworthy one for our Lake District trip. It is a treat to me from me so I’m looking forward to it arriving.

I know some people dont like her but I actually really love Molly Mae. I think she’s great, and I love her YouTube videos and instagram stories which I’ve been binging on when I can’t sleep. She gets so much hate, and I just don’t get why as I think she’s hilarious, has done so well for herself, and is one of the most honest people in all of her videos.

Afternoon tea

Finally I was approached by 21 restaurant in Newcastle this week to try their afternoon tea at home packages, so that’s what I did yesterday afternoon. It was so beautiful, packaged in a gorgeous box and the food was amazing. I honestly think it’s one of the best afternoon teas I’ve had. I will share more on it properly this week.

That’s it for this week, as always thank you for all your support, shares, views and time on my blog. The past month has been hard work but with views doing better than ever it makes it worthwhile. If you’re still looking for a staycation this coming August bank holiday then check out this post where I’ve pulled together 50+ places that still have availability.

Have a great week.
