The Spa Hotels In Newcastle City Centre

If you’re visiting Newcastle and choosing which hotel to stay in, one of your requirements or ideal amenities might be a spa. These are the spa hotels in Newcastle to choose from.

New to Newcastle & The North East For 2021

Although there are many luxury spa hotels with much bigger spas within a short drive of Newcastle, this list covers the spa hotels in Newcastle city centre. They each offer different facilities and spa options, so you can choose which one fits your needs the best.

Best Spa Hotels in Newcastle

These spa hotels in Newcastle have a reputation for being the best, not just in terms of their spa offering, but for everything else including location, accommodation or food offering.

The Crowne Plaza Mineral Spa

The Crowne Plaza often tops the list of spa hotels in Newcastle, as the on-site Mineral Spa has a pool, spa facilities and treatments, and a fitness centre. The pool is 10m, but it does occasionally play host to swimming lessons, but you can check times on the website. There are three treatment rooms in the spa, a jacuzzi and a steam room.

Treatments on offer include a range of body treatments and massages, scrubs, facials, wraps, waxing and nail care. As well as individual treatments, Mineral Spa offers day packages if you want something that lasts a bit longer. The spa brochure details all of the treatments and packages available.

The Crowne Plaza is a 4 star hotel, and can be found right in Newcastle city centre, just behind the railways station on Forth Street. Within a short walking distance you can be either on the quayside or in the city centre. Head back to this modern and comfortable hotel after a day shopping, enjoying drinks or the many restaurants for a pamper in the Crowne Plaza Spa.

Grey Street Hotel City Retreat Spa

Grey Street Hotel and the on site City Retreat spa is right in the centre of Newcastle, on one of the most beautiful streets. The spa is open Wednesday to Sunday, with late night appointments available mid week. The spa doesn’t have facilities like a pool or a jacuzzi, but it does have a huge selection of spa salon treatments available to choose from.

The idea of the City Retreat spa here is to escape from the outside world, despite being right in the city centre. Enjoy either an individual treatment or a full package to indulge yourself. The spa here is award winning, so it’s a great one for a pamper.

Take a look at the City Retreat brochure here which details everything you can book.

Newcastle Malmaison

The Newcastle Mal has spa facilities in the form of a beauty salon, where treatments and packages can be booked, including the ‘Hen Party Heaven’ for groups. The Mal is a lovely hotel right on the quayside so it has fabulous views, and they promise that despite the central location you will feel a million miles away during your treatments.

At the moment they are only open over weekends, but they offer massages, facials, skin and body treatments as individual options, or packages that cater for everyone including women, men, and mums to be. You can enjoy different experiences alongside, including afternoon tea, indulgence full day packages, or evening experiences.

Malmaison, Newcastle

Royal Station Hotel

The 3 star Royal Station hotel is right by Newcastle Central Station, and is part of the Cairn Group. They have a swimming pool and a fully equipped fitness centre, as well as a jacuzzi and steam room. They don’t offer spa treatments here, just the use of the facilities.

Other Spa Hotels in Newcastle

The following spa hotels in Newcastle aren’t quite in the city centre, but they are still in the Newcastle region.

The Hilton Gateshead

I wouldn’t actually class this hotel as a spa hotel, but it does have an indoor pool and a fitness centre if that’s all you were looking for. There isn’t a spa treatment service, and it’s located over the river on the Gateshead side rather than in the city centre. Still a lovely hotel to enjoy if all you want is to go back for a swim.

Grand Hotel Gosforth Park

In Gosforth on the outskirts of Newcastle, the Grand Hotel Gosforth Park sits next to Newcastle Racecourse. It is a Brittania Hotel, and has a pool, gym, sauna and hair salon. You can get treatments as well. Location wise it probably isn’t as good as others, but would be fine if you’re going to the races.

See more on the Gosforth Park Hotel spa here.

Newcastle Gateshead Marriott Hotel

The Marriott Hotel is right next to the Metrocentre shopping centre in Gateshead, so again it isn’t central Newcastle, but it does have a big pool, fitness area, hair salon and spa. You can get a good range of treatments here.

Twilight Spa at Seaham Hall Serenity Spa

Luxury Spa Hotels Near Newcastle

If you aren’t too bothered about being in the city centre, or within close proximity then the North East has some gorgeous country estate or hotel spas within a 40 minute drive. Take a look at Seaham Hall, or Slaley Hall which are two of the closest, as well as Walwick Hall, Ramside Hall and Matfen Hall.

There may not be many spa hotels in Newcastle, but particularly the Crowne Plaza, Grey Street Hotel and the Malmaison would be my go to. They are in the centre of the city, but offer a good range of facilities and treatments.
