Unique Gifts For Mother’s Day 2021

I’ve sent more bunches of flowers to people this year than I ever have before, and while it’s a sure way to draw a smile, show love and appreciation from afar, if you’re looking for something a bit different for Mother’s Day 2021 then I’ve got you covered.

Mothers Day 2021

We may have been given a release date to aim for, but unfortunately Mothers Day is on Sunday 14th March, so a whole month before restrictions really ease enough to make a difference.

No need to panic, we can still make it special for all the mothers, step mothers, grandparents, dads who act as mothers and or anyone special to you that you celebrate on that day.

Mothers Day 2021 gift Ideas

I’ve really tried to focus mainly on gifts here, but there are a couple of takeaway options in there too. What I haven’t included though are restaurant meals this time. I’m sure by now everyone knows their favourites!

Murphy & Me print

These prints are the perfect gift for anyone with young children, if it’s a first time Mothers Day or even if you’re a fur baby mum! Fran has opened her site for orders today and they are just beautiful. They’re custom and made with a lot of love and care. Get in quick if you want one there’s only so many she can physically create!

Havio Designs Candle

Taking the candle world by storm the incredible FEMME candles are selling out everywhere. Take a look at Havio Designs who have a range of colours and shapes, as well as some extra choices too. I have the white and just ordered the black yesterday.

Shop Havio Designs here.

Our Lovely Goods Candle or Gifts

While I’m talking about candles I can’t overlook Our Lovely Goods. I’ve mentioned them a few times as I discovered them as part of the BLM movement last year and have been a returning customer many times since. Their candles smell incredible, come in both small and large sizes now and they last a long time. A great gift.

This was the winter one but I adore the Somewhere Far Away, and I really want to try ‘Coast’ – considering I live by the sea.

See more of Our Lovely Goods here.

Hot Air Balloon Box by Imaginarium

If you’re looking to dress up Prosecco and chocolates (everyone’s favourites) into a bundle with a difference then have a look at this very striking hot air balloon box by Imaginarium Balloon studio. I love following their insta to see what balloon creations they do both on a small and large scale, but these are very cute for Mother’s Day.

Pic Nic box from Pure Knead

This cafe in Whitley Bay are taking orders for picnic and treat boxes, which is perfect if you’re planning to meet your mum outside for a walk or coffee (we can do so from 8th March rather than just exercise!). Another one to get in quick as numbers are limited.

Batch Breakfast Box

You might have seen I ordered one of these a few weeks ago and again they would make a brilliant takeaway Mother’s Day breakfast. There’s so much in their you could easily feed a few of you and they’re fresh and delicious.

Find more breakfast box and breakfast takeaway options here.

North East Breakfast Boxes & Local Coffee

Afternoon Tea

This can be done either in person or virtually if you don’t live with your mum, just order an afternoon tea box for her, and one for yourself! My sister and I did this for our mum not long ago and we got ourselves a bottle of Prosecco each too. It was a nice change for the afternoon even on FaceTime.

Some suggestions are, Jesmond Dene House Mother’s Day special, The Running Fox, and 21 Newcastle.

Sara’s Cakes North East cake box

I was lucky enough to get one of Sara’s Valentine’s creations and the cakes taste unbelievable – better even than they look if that’s at all possible! She’s taking orders for Mother’s Day now but again be quick.

Lifestyle Gifts from Bellwood’s

I love this Instagram and I’m very excited for when she opens a shop right in Whitley Bay where I live. She sells all sorts of gifts including candles, mugs, cushions, jewellery and wall hangings. Take a look as they’re gorgeous and are guaranteed to be something a bit different for your mum this year.

At Mary’s Gin

Gin is as popular gift as any and although it isn’t the cheapest one around it’s certainly one of the nicest ones I’ve tried recently. It’s really delicious so perfect for an occasion like this. As well as individual bottles they’ve created a hamper specifically for Mother’s Day 2021.

For the Love of the North – World’s Best Mam

For something unique to the North East, For the Love of the North have released this World’s Best Mam mug, for £12. You can shop this and their full range of gifts with a Northern flair on their website here.

Spa Day vouchers

It’s been a very long time since we could all enjoy a good professional pamper day that doesn’t involve our own bathrooms. Now there are plans for places to reopen how about supporting your favourite spa by purchasing a gift voucher or even booking a future date. You can find some of my favourite north east ones here, my favourite Lake District and Yorkshire ones here, and my newest favourite Beau Monde in Northumberland here.

Beau Monde is small and very intimate, great for still distancing and getting the place to yourself!

*Please note the offers listed in those posts will be out of date so check for new ones.

Bouquet of Dried Flowers

These are so popular at the moment as a fresh flower alternative, and I asked for recommendations of where to get some on my Instagram post below. They’ve not arrived yet but I have ordered from Pampas & Blush which was one if the suggestions – I’m hoping they arrive very soon.

A French Lunch Hamper

And finally because I did this last weekend I have to include the French Quarter and their either ready made or create your own hampers, filled with delicious French products and of course – wine! I thoroughly enjoyed ours last week they would make a lovely gift – read more about the French Quarter here.

The French Quarter hampers

Of course any gift or gesture will always be appreciated by any mother on Mother’s Day, for some a lie in, some I know are just happy with schools reopening, but these are some slightly different gifts I thought I’d share. I think for many of us the best gift we can currently have is the thought that soon in the not too distant future we will be able to hug our mums again.

I’ll keep adding to this list over the coming weeks.
