Hotels With Private Hot Tub Rooms In The North East
A private hot tub in your hotel, suite or private accommodation is a luxury that many enjoy, and there actually aren’t that many, if any, hotels in Newcastle that have a private hot tub in the room. There are a lot of quirky rooms, unique luxurious features, and so on, but you actually have to travel outside of the city centre to find hotels with private hot tub rooms in the North East.
What is often the case is that hotel properties extend beyond their standard hotel room offerings, into lodges, cottages, external buildings and suite buildings that then allow them the space to include a hot tub. So you get all the benefits of the hotel on site, including the restaurants and facilities, but you have your own suite or private space complete with a hot tub.
There are many beautiful hotels in the North East that offer these options, and if anything they’re more relaxing for a luxury escape. So here’s the hotels that have private hot tub rooms in Newcastle and the North East.
South Causey Inn, Durham
South Causey Inn is a rustic, independent hotel near Beamish in County Durham, and among their many choices of rooms and accommodations are themed hot tub suites that offer a private hot tub on your own terrace. There’s the French Boudoir, The Treehouse, The Smithy, Captain Cook’s cabin and many more. As you can imagine they are all decorated to suite their theme, and they are pet friendly.
There are all sorts of add on packages you can purchase to make the most of more time in your hot tub, including room service, drinks packages and more. Alternatively South Causey has multiple dining options, indoor and outdoors, and it’s in a great spot to explore the local Beamish Valley area.
See more information on the South Causey Inn hot tub suites online here.
The Lodge at Close House, Heddon on the Wall
Close House Estate may be known for its famous Lee Westwood golf courses, but there are a number of accommodation options within the grounds that can be booked for anyone to enjoy. You don’t have to be playing golf to stay here, or to visit No.19 Restaurant at the clubhouse.
One of the accommodation options is the Lodge, which is a luxurious stone lodge that was once the Close House gatehouse. It’s beautiful inside, very private and has two en suite bedrooms, living areas and a private garden complete with hot tub. In a beautiful spot to enjoy the facilities of Close House, but also the surrounding countryside and many walking trails of the area.
A stay at Close House Lodge isn’t cheap, but if it’s something in your price bracket then it’s an indulgent treat you won’t regret.

Hot Tub Hideaway, Gateshead
Probably the closest to Newcastle, Hot Tub Hideaway is a two lodge accommodation choice and both the North Studio and the South Studio have private hot tubs. They market themselves as a couples romantic escape, so they’re for no more than two people, but they have everything including some catering facilities, an outdoor terrace area, TV, robes and slippers and a private hot tub.
You can find Hot Tub Hideaway just a few minutes from the Angel of the North, and half a mile from the A1. See more information on their website here.
Newton Hall Cabin Walk, Northumberland
Newly opened Cabin Walk is a complex of luxury cabins next to Newton Hall, up in Northumberland at Newton by the Sea. Sleeping 2 – 4 people depending which cabin you book, they’re absolutely gorgeous. They’ve been decorated in four different styles, and have kitchen facilities, en suite bathrooms, some have outdoor showers, private terraces and many come with a private hot tub in their own garden area.
If you can tempt yourself away from the luxuries your cabin provides, they’re in an ideal spot to enjoy the Northumberland coast, the beaches as well as the countryside. They take glamping to the next level, with the cabins feeling more like 5 star hotel rooms rather than any sort of camping experience.
Cabin Walk welcomed their first guests in June 2022, and they’re part of Newton Hall and the nearby Joiners Arms which is where you have your breakfast that is included. They’re pet friendly, and you are provided with robes and slippers too.

Impeccable Pig, Stockton on Tees
The Impeccable Pig is an inn in Sedgefield with restaurant, bar and 12 luxurious accommodation rooms. They pride themselves on their extensive wine menu, and high quality food. The rooms are all slightly different, and five of them that are located on the ground floor have private outdoor terrace areas with a hot tub.
Take a look at the rooms called The Whole Hog, Oinkers, Globe Trotter, Pigsty and Le Cochon D’or – these are the premier double rooms that come with the private hot tub, as well as many other impressive amenities.
The restaurant gets really good reviews, for their main menu, their Sunday pig out menu, and childrens ‘piglets’ menu.

Wynyard Hall Cottages, Wynyard
Wynyard Hall is a beautiful house and estate in Wynyard near Stockton, with vast grounds, gardens and a recently developed new restaurant The Glasshouse. The rooms at Wynyard are for the use of private hire guests for events and weddings, but they also have four cottages within the Wynyard estate and these come with private hot tubs.
A stay in one of the Wynyard Cottages gives you access to use the Wynyard Spa, and you can dine in the Glasshouse restaurant if you choose over cooking in your cottage. The four cottages are different from the other, but all have the private hot tub.

Bungalow Suites & Garden Suites at Seaham Hall, Seaham
Seaham Hall has long been a beautiful hotel on the Durham coast, with Serenity Spa offering a 5 star spa experience and all sorts of packages for a fabulous stay. They’ve taken their luxury offering to a new level with recently opened bungalow suites.
They look absolutely stunning, 2 bedroom open plan with floor to ceiling windows looking over your private terrace with fire pit and private hot tub. Although they’re self catered and have so many amenities you might never want to leave, you do get access to the Serenity Spa, and can get food in the Seaham Hall restaurant too.
The bungalow suites aren’t the only private hot tub rooms at Seaham, they also have a garden suite in the main hotel, which also has a private terrace and Scandinavian style hot tub.

The Treehouse or the Farmhouse at Ramside Hall, Durham
Ramside Hall is one of the most popular spa hotels in the North East, and they quite literally took their accommodation offering to ‘new heights’ when their luxury treehouses opened for stays. The Treehouse can be hired as one for a big group, or can be smaller treehouse stays for couples or families. Two of them have sunken private hot tubs, as well as the wider luxuries you will experience staying here. Enjoy a dip with a view over the golf course and grounds. They also have free standing copper bathtubs too.
As well as the Treehouse, Ramside Hall owns The Farmhouse within the grounds too, an old traditional farmhouse with fabulous kitchen, and another one that would be ideal for a bigger group. It has a patio and 6 seater hot tub, a BBQ and beautiful views of the grounds and gardens too.
Guests staying in either accommodation have access to the spa, dining and golf facilities too.
See more on the Treehouses and Farmhouse at Ramside Hall here.
Middleton Lodge, Richmond
Technically this isn’t the North East, as it’s more North Yorkshire but it’s actually only an hour away from Newcastle which is the same sort of distance as some places in Northumberland. A stunning hotel with multiple room options, some of which are dog friendly, and two of them offer private outdoor hot tubs.
Take a look at the Dairy Hot Tub and the Dairy Cottage accommodation options, as both have beautiful hot tubs for your private use.
See more on Middleton Lodge here.
Although there may not be any private hot tub rooms at the hotels in the city centre of Newcastle, there are many alternative options slightly further afield that would more than do the trick. As hot tub rooms are generally pricier, if you’re paying for it you can at least enjoy some of these beautiful locations, spas and restaurants that come with these hotels, while still being close by to Newcastle.
Happy hot tubbing!
