Lifestyle Newcastle Spa Breaks

The Best Autumn & Winter Spa Deals in The North East

I first wrote this post at the start of this year in January when I was desperate for something to look forward to at the end of dry Jan, and the boring month after Christmas. Little did we know then how much of the year we would spend needing something to look forward to. Rather than do a brand new post, I’ve updated this one to show the latest autumn and winter spa deals in North East for the coming months. Pleas remember obviously based on our current ‘High tier’ restrictions these can only be used for individual households, and all regulations and COVID guidelines of each place apply.

Many places have great deals on one night stays, that come with full access to their spa facilities. It’s actually sometimes better to book these if you want real value for money as well as time in a spa so its worth checking ‘all offers’ rather than just ‘spa offers’ on each website. You could end up spending less for dinner, bed and breakfast with access to the spa facilities, for the same price or cheaper than you would spend on a spa day or half day.

We ended up booking an offer like that ourselves back in January, and it worked out £60 cheaper even on a Saturday night.

Seaham Hall

This 5 star country house hotel is absolutely stunning, and the Serenity Spa is one of the biggest spas I’ve ever been to, with a huge range of treatment rooms, fitness and relaxation options. The whole spa complex is luxurious and relaxing, set apart from the main hotel it’s perfect for both hotel guests or day visitors. There are relaxation areas, a big indoor pool, a fabulous outdoor hydrotherapy pool, hot tubs, plunge pools, sauna and steam rooms, and an Asian Ozone restaurant.

Spa days on offer at Seaham Hall

Full Day Spa: This full day session gives you spa access from 9-5pm, with all facilities including the outdoor hydro pools, hot tubs and relaxation areas available to you. You also get a two course lunch included served in the Pan Asian Ozone restaurant, and a 60 minute treatment from either Temple Spa or an Ishga treatment ritual.

Price and availability: There is availability on this over the next few months, and it’s not just available midweek you can book Fridays and Saturdays too. Prices I’ve seen are either £150 or £160 depending on which night.

Half Day Evening Spa: Enjoy all of the spa facilities, and a two course dinner in the Ozone restaurant, and a 45 minute treatment between the hours of 5-10pm.

Prices and availability: Available all days of the week where there is still space, £99 for midweek and £110 for Friday and Saturday.

Twilight Spa: I was invited to enjoy this experience not long ago, and it was so nice to switch off from the world in my first spa since January. You can read a lot more detail on this in the Twilight Spa blog post I shared here, but to summarise it includes full access to the facilities between 6-10pm, and a two course dinner in the Ozone restaurant.

Prices: £79 Sunday – Thursday, £85 Friday and Saturday.

Ramside Hall

A hotel and spa I’ve never actually been to (yet!) but one that always gets great write ups, and they had some exciting changes this year with the arrival of their luxury tree houses which just look fabulous. The 4 star hall located in County Durham offers both spa and golf breaks, and the following are pretty good deals.

Time for Calm spa day: A full day spa from 9-5pm with use of the spa facilities for the whole day, plus a 2 course lunch in the Asian inspired Fusion restaurant. In this deal you also get a facial. It’s £109pp midweek and £129 at weekends.

Time for Me spa day: This is the same package as above with all the same details except the treatment is slightly different. Instead of the facial you get a 50min face and body escape. Prices are the same as above too.

Twilight for 2 spa: Available Monday to Thursday this evening spa includes a 2 course dinner when you arrive in the Fusion restaurant followed by access to the spa facilities until 9pm. A good midweek pick me up.

Overnight deals: Ramside have a number of overnight spa deals and they’re all slightly different. The Stay & Spa Deal is a simple overnight stay with full access to the spa facilities for £179 per couple. There are no add ons or meals to this, its literally your room and spa access. The Overnight Escape deal for £249 per couple gives you the same overnight stay and spa access, but with a 30 minute treatment and breakfast included.

The Classic Spa Break goes one step further again, and for £175 per person midweek, or £195 at weekends it includes brunch in the Fusion restaurant, a choice of 45 minute treatment, and £50 towards dinner in Fusion or the Rib Room.

Beau Monde Spa

Until recently I’d never been to Beau Monde, located up in Lucker, Northumberland. They aren’t a hall or hotel where you can stay over so all their deals are just on spa days, half days and treatments, but dont let that put you off. They have a big range on offer, and the facilities are beautiful. It was one of the most relaxing days I’ve spent all year and I came away saying the treatment was one of the best I’ve ever had at a spa. Read my full post on Beau Monde here, it really is lovely.

Beau Monde Spa, Northumberland

Morning or afternoon half day spas include four hours using the facilities, a welcome drink, homemade fruit scones and refreshments, and a 30 minute treatment for £75 per person.

A full spa day includes a day using the facilities, a 60 minute treatment and lunch for £100 per person.

My Kinda Mood spa package: This is the spa experience I did when I visit Beau Monde in September, and it includes access to all the facilities all day, a 90 minute treatment, afternoon tea, a glass of Prosecco and a welcome drink. It’s £135 for a 9-5pm day.

Headlam Hall

This 17th century house in Darlington has a spa complex separate to the main hall, where you can stay in one of the spa rooms above. I have really enjoyed some spa days here, but it is quite small and secluded so if it’s busy it’s sometimes not easy to get a lounger.

Headlam Hall
Headlam Hall

The spa offers they currently have include:

Brunch & Spa: Available in October and November, this offer includes brunch in the main hall restaurant at 10:30, followed by access to the spa between 11:30-2:30 and a 60 minute spa treatment. Finish the day with cream tea in the brasserie at 3pm. All this for £95 per person but only available Mon-Fri

Afternoon Tea & Spa: Similar to above this is a day spa available Monday to Friday. You get coffee or tea on arrival at 11am, a 60 minute treatment, and finish the day with afternoon tea in the main hall at 3pm. Also £95 per person.

Autumn Gold Break: This one isn’t really a spa break but you do get access to the spa as a hotel guest. Enjoy a stay in Headlam Hall simply to relax in the countryside. Available in Oct and Nov it includes an overnight stay, breakfast, a three course a la Carter dinner, and afternoon tea. It is a two night minimum stay at £95 per person per night.

headlamp hall spa

Headlam have a really big range of half and full day spas year round, too many to list them all but it’s worth spending some time looking through them if this is what you fancy. Some of the best in my opinion include:

Day of Relaxation: 9:30am-4:30pm, smoothie and tea and coffee on arrival, use of the facilities for the full day, lunch in the spa brasserie and 90 minute treatment time including a foot treatment, hot stone massage, neck and shoulders and a head and scalp massage. All this for £145 per person.

Saturday Package: 10am-1pm, smoothie, tea or coffee on arrival, two course lunch in the spa brasserie, and a 60 minute treatment after lunch but you are required to pay the cost of this in addition to the £40 per person for the day.

Secluded Sunday Package: There are three options for this, all include a treatment and five hours spa access, but come with a different meal. You can choose either a breakfast, Sunday dinner, or afternoon tea package depending on your preference. This is £90 per person.

Rockliffe Hall

One of my favourites, Rockliffe Hall in Darlington is one of those places where you feel like you’ve been away a week after just an hour. The private spa garden is one of my favourite extras to add on to any stay, with the infinity pool overlooking the gardens, and the waiter service that bring you wine and frozen grapes.

Rockliffe Hall

They’ve recently renovated the spa too so I’d be interested to hear what it’s like if anyone goes. Here are my picks of their best spa offers:

Twilight Break: arrive at 6pm and head straight to the Spa Garden, the private spa area that requires a booked time slot and includes an outdoor infinity pool, and heated loungers looking out over the grounds. It really is fabulous and would be so cosy at this time of year. You have access to this for two hours until 8pm, but can use the main spa facilities then until 9pm too. If you want to add a treatment on you can do so at 5pm before you go into the spa garden.

Price: £60 or £105 with a treatment.

New Beginning Spa Morning: This is available until the end of October so just a couple of weeks left, but includes a full English with tea or coffee in the clubhouse on arrival, followed by 2 hours in the spa, and a 45 minute or 60 minute treatment. Sounds quite a nice way to spend the day.

Price: £115 per person, or £130 with a treatment.

Rockliffe Hall

Adventurous Autumn Break: A really good value for money offer considering the usual cost of Rockliffe Hall, this break includes A stay in a New Hall Superior room, two hour use of the spa facilities and breakfast in the Orangery. It excludes Saturdays but the price is £180 per couple which is excellent value for Rockliffe Hall.

See all Rockliffe Hall Hotel and Spa offers here.

Take a look at some of my past experiences of Rockliffe Hall here, but I’ve only ever been in the summer, and for this winter they have a few good spa deals on. I’d love to wake up to snow here it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Rockliffe Hall

Wynyard Hall

Located in the Tees Valley I’ve not been myself but again I hear nothing but good reviews. Dannielle Lily has been to Wynyard, and her review sounds pretty idyllic, she even got snow. Wynyard have some winter offers that are worth considering.

Classic Wynyard Spa: Available on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 12-6pm, you get traditional afternoon tea in the main hall followed by a 60 minute massage or facial. If you want use of the spa facilities too this is an extra £30 per person.

A Wynyard Boost: At £25 per person for a 45 minute Rasul mud experience and 1 hour in the spa, this Wynyard Boost offer is available Wednesdays – Sunday between 10am and 6:30am. A good one for a quick pick me up over the weekend.

Autumn & Wynter Escape: This offer is actually quite good, and includes an overnight stay with a bottle of Prosecco, entry to the gardens, a 3 course dinner in the Wellington restaurant and a continental breakfast the following morning. I think spa access is at an additional cost.

Prices start at £179 per room per night.

Matfen Hall

A gem in the Northumberland countryside, Matfen Hall offers luxurious relaxation, an 18 hole golf course, spa facilities and Go Ape hidden among the trees. They have a good selection of offers that cover everything from spa packages, to golf and fine dining.

September spa day: This may be called a September spa day but its still on their site so must still be bookable. It sounds great as you get a welcome drink on arrival, two hours worth of treatments, time in the spa facilities, a two course lunch and use of the relaxation room for the day. The treatment is a full body exfoliation, massage and facial. Two hours of uninterrupted pampering sounds amazing to me, For £115 per person I think this is really reasonable especially for an extended treatment like that, and lunch.

Spa Residential Package: An overnight stay in a classic bedroom also comes with breakfast and dinner if you go for this deal. All that and a 40 minute treatment of your choice from a wide range of options like a full body exfoliation, back massage, foot revive or glamour hand massage. There are different prices depending on which day you go for, starting at £147.50 per person on Sundays – Thursdays, and going up to £189 for a Saturday.

Spa Retreat: This one is very similar to the spa residential package above but the treatment is for 60 minutes and you can choose from a skin specific facial, a signature full body massage or a back ritual and scalp massage. Prices are slightly higher starting at £172.50 per person midweek, and £207.50 on Saturdays.

Walwick Hall

Another Northumberland hotel and spa near Hexham, I really enjoyed our stay at Walwick Hall a couple of years ago and I’m quite sad we’ve not yet been back. I had the best nights sleep after a lie by the pool, a massage and delicious dinner.

Walwick Hall

Walwick have a number of offers available on their offers page, including Valentine’s deals and accommodation offers, but here are a couple of their winter offers.

Midweek Getaway: If you can take time off through the week this is a really good deal for Walwick Hall. Bed, breakfast, full use of the spa facilities and lunch on the day you arrive for £230 per couple.

Friday Feeling: I really like this package deal as it’s a bit different. As well as a welcome drink on arrival you also get early Friday check in, an antipasti sharing platter with wine, a seasonal dinner for two in the evening, overnight stay and breakfast the next day. Booking this deal you also get full access to the spa facilities and 10% off treatments. Who doesn’t like a Friday feeling and I think this one would be pretty good. Prices start from £284 per couple.

Ultimate spa stay: A spa package that includes everything, for £230 per person be treated to lunch and a drink on arrival, followed by a one hour treatment in the spa and access to the pool. It also includes evening dinner in the restaurant and breakfast the next morning.

Christmas and New Year: Walwick Hall have their December offers up now too, including a December dinner, bed and breakfast offer, a wine tasting offer, a 3 night New Year stay and Christmas stays.

Visit the Walwick Hall website for all offers here.

Walwick Hall

Slaley Hall

Slaley Hall near Hexham may be one of the older North East spas but it’s still great if you want a reasonably priced deal in the next month or so. I went for a Christmas showcase last year and loved the drawing room with the big fire, and I know plenty of people who have really enjoyed both food and spa experiences there recently.

Slaley Hall

Great British Autumn Breakaways: Slaley are encouraging us to enjoy all things British this Autumn, seen as we dont have much choice but to be here and we might as well enjoy some luxury. They have a few Autumn breaks and you can choose from extras such as afternoon tea, dinner, or adding an extra night. An afternoon tea for two stay starts at £72, the dinner offer starts at £73.50 and a two night Autumn stay begins at £109 per person.

Great British Autumn Spa Break: The Autumn spa break is definitely worth considering, as in addition to dinner, bed and breakfast you can also choose a 50 minute treatment or two 25 minute treatments. Round it all up with a free gin and tonic too. Prices start at £109 per person.

See Slaleys full range of offers here.

Slaley Hall

I haven’t been to Doxford Hall personally but they do have some good deals, especially the Autumn break.

Doxford Hall: A Sunday night special from £149 per room, a 2 night walkers retreat from £169 per night, and a two night Autumn break from £179 per room with dinner, bottle of wine and discounted spa treatments. All include breakfast and full access to spa facilities as standard.
